Once owned by Lord Hardinge, Governor General of India and owner of nearby South Park the land was once part of the South Park Estate. Under a yew tree is buried a horse once owned by Lord Wellington which was given to Lord Hardinge. The woodland contains some interesting trees including the so-called ‘Seven Sisters’, reported to be the largest tree in Britain.
