Distance 3 miles approx.

Parking Layby on B2176 opposite Penshurst Place

After parking in the lay-by walk up to a left-hand driveway marked ‘Public Bridleway’. Take this turning and continue until the road divides. Take the right track.

At a farm (Watstock) take a left past barns and a farmhouse. This will bring you on to a tarmac road with Abbotsmerry Barn on the left.

This will take you down past Salmans Farm on the left. You will then come to a lake on the right and an oast conversion on the left.

At the manor house turn right on to the pathway to the left of the house. At T-junction go over the stile which leads into fields, continue and cross over stile at opposite side of field.

PLEASE NOTE: AS AT AUGUST 2016 ACCESS TO THE PATH TO THE WARREN JUST BEFORE HARDEN COTTAGES IS FORBIDDEN. AN ALTERNATIVE ROUTE IS VIA GROVE ROAD AND THE MAIN ROAD BACK TO PENSHURST (SEE MAP).

Head diagonally across this field and over a stile into a pathway with an orchard on the right and a small stream on the left.

Cross the bridge over the river and cross the field to the stile opposite. It has a yellow arrow on the post.

Walk along the side of the field keeping the hedge on your left.

With a haybarn on the right and a barn conversion on the left, continue down concrete drive past a row of cottages and continue until you have the school on your left at a junction with the road.

Turn left and continue through the village until you reach the B2176 on the left (where the walk started.)

Note: We recommend that proper walking boots are worn for all walks. Frequently they cross bridle-paths for a part of the route and these tend to be very uneven and remain wet when everywhere else is dry underfoot.

Wildlife one can see include deer (especially late afternoon near woodland), pheasant, rabbits, fox and badger setts.
