The Chafford Arms is changing! Until recent times it was an old fashioned country pub with a saloon and public bar with different pricing - a very English thing! The two bars remain, but there is now only one pricing structure. Lovers of tradition will be pleased to know, however, that a Grade II red telephone box still exists and that is not the only traditional thing : the food too is now traditional and entirely home cooked.

Paul, the proprietor, himself a chef for 30 years, now employs another chef to prepare all the meals and the menu changes every three months. Meanwhile, Jackie, his wife, bakes all the cakes and scones herself. Afternoon tea can be taken between 3pm and 5pm any day of the week, it is always open.

The best place to enjoy this home cooking is in the extensive garden, with beautiful views of the Kentish countryside almost unchanged for centuries. The garden is peaceful and spacious, easily able to take a marquee, making it an ideal venue for a country wedding.
